If you are experiencing overheating or leaking your radiator or connected components may need to be replaced. Ventura Motor Works is glad to inspect your system for free, you are welcome to make an appointment or just stop on by for a quick visual inspection of your cooling system. Over time radiators can break down and start to leak. A small leak can lead to a major problem if not take care of properly. However it is important to note that it isn’t always the radiator that can have leaks and cause overheating problems. Many times the hoses or the clamps can deteriorate and cause leaking. A sticking thermostat can also be a major problem that will cause a vehicle to overheat and is often an inexpensive fix. Sometimes a broken head gasket can be mistaken for a bad radiator. This is a problem that needs to be diagnosed and addressed by a professional.

What a Radiator Does for Your Vehicle

A radiator is part of the cooling system for your engine. It essentially dissipates heat from the coolant as it passes through the radiator and back into the engine block to keep the operating temperature at a premium level for your vehicle. It is recommended to change your coolant once a year to get optimum wear and use from your radiator. Over time corrosion can take place in the engine, hoses and radiator if coolant flushes are not performed. Radiators use to be primarily made from Copper and Brass. Nowadays they are mostly made from Plastic and Aluminum. Traditionally a four core radiator was the best cooling one could buy. However with technological advances most radiators run a one or two core high efficiency core. This core is thicker than the traditional radiator cores giving more cooling power to a single core. Meaning a traditional four core can now be replaced with a less expensive two core that offers equivalent or better cooling capacity.
